Fishing licences in Cyprus

When you need a licence, how to get it and what it costs, in plain words with the official links.

Freshwater needs a licence. Simple sea shore fishing usually does not.

If you fish reservoirs or dams, get a DFMR licence first. If you fish from the sea shore with a normal rod, that is usually the no-licence case.

What it costs

per year: all dams where fishing is allowed

per year: one selected dam

Validity: 1 January to 31 December each year, regardless of the issue date.

Three steps with DFMR

Issued by the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research (DFMR). The licence is personal: keep it with you while fishing and show it with ID if requested.
